From Ashland, Ohio, and a graduate of Ashland High School, Earl "Tommy" Thomas was a local sports legend. He lettered in four sports in four years of high school, and moved on to become the center on the Ohio State basketball team and was selected all-Big 10 in his junior year. He was a regional sales manger for Penton Publishing Company and retired from there in 1983.

I contacted the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame Historian Paul Dienstberger via email, and he was able, with the help of associate Betty Plank, to get me the death record of our player, Earl Hubert Thomas. Died in 1989 in Elyria, Ohio at 74 years of age. Thank you, Paul and Betty!
