Born in Texas to Rush and Joyce Cotton. The 6'7 giant from Texas was a force with the successful Wesleyan teams. He served in the army during World War 2. After the war, he played with future baseball stars Jackie Robinson, Irv Noren and George Crowe for the integrated L.A. Devils. He briefly played for the Gears in the NBL.

He is commonly referred to "Weyman" in a lot of news articles, moreso than "Bob."
